Golden 1 gives its members more free access to money

SACRAMENTO, CA, (October 8, 2014) -- Golden 1 Credit Union believes you shouldn’t have to pay to access your own money. That is why Golden 1 members now have more free options for accessing their money without having to worry about service fees often charged by financial institutions.

“Our mission is to deliver financial solutions with value, convenience, and exceptional service,” said Donna Bland, President and CEO of Golden 1 Credit Union. “We recognize that our members work hard for their money, and we work hard to ensure they get to keep more of it. That’s what makes us stronger together.”

Unlike other financial institutions that have eliminated free checking, Golden 1 still has it. Golden 1 members also have free unlimited use of the Credit Union’s online, mobile, and bill payment services which include the ability to deposit checks and make instant payments directly to individuals with their smart phones. Free email and text alerts provide immediate notification of debit and credit card transactions to help Golden 1 members manage their finances and monitor against fraudulent use of their cards. And, free access to the Credit Union’s extended-hours contact center, 270 ATMs, and nearly 30,000 CO-OP Network ATMs across the U.S. ensure convenient availability to cash and service.

“We are a member-focused organization committed to exceeding expectations in everything we do. We want to ensure Golden 1 is the better choice when it comes to financial services. One of the ways we do that is by providing our members with more free access to their money,” said Bland.

Members of Golden 1 are also able to protect against overdrafts in their checking accounts by accessing the funds available in their savings and credit lines. When Golden 1 transfers available funds from savings or credit lines to cover checking overdrafts, there are no fees for the transfers and no charges for non-sufficient funds.

All of this convenience is provided free of charge.

When Golden 1 members under the age of 18 have large amounts of coins in their piggy banks, they have free use of the coin counting machines which are located in many of the Credit Union’s branches.

Incoming domestic wire transfers and manually processed transfers within the same account are free for all Golden 1 members.

With more than $8 billion in assets and 680,000 members, Golden 1 is the sixth largest credit union in the United States. For more information, please visit golden1.com.
