INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 15, 2013) -- FORUM Credit Union has teamed up with the Care for Kids Foundation as part of its ongoing efforts to facilitate community partnerships. Formed in 2005, the FORUM Spirit Advisory Council works toward initiatives that positively contribute to the well-being of the community at large and determines a special charity for FORUM employees to sponsor each year.
The Care for Kids Foundation seeks to impact the long-term success of vulnerable youth by providing hope, expanding a sense of reality, teaching useful skills, nurturing friendships and promoting self-worth. Beginning in 1995, the Care for Kids Foundation modernized the Marion County Guardian Home, an emergency shelter care facility for abused, neglected, and abandoned children. Additionally, they established a memorial for lost children at Crown Hill Cemetery, and they finance a week-long residential camping experience, which provides a safe and fun environment for kids to explore the outdoors and their creativity.
FORUM recently held a donation drive that gave departments, teams, and branches the opportunity to sponsor a girl and supply her with various items that she would need throughout a week of summer camp. Approximately 25 girls ages 13 through 16 attended summer camp from July 7-12. FORUM also provided each girl with a new duffle bag and sleeping bag for the trip.
FORUM employees have also participated in $5 Jean Days, a tax day breakfast, and a summer cookout to raise money for the foundation. At this time, FORUM employees have raised more than $12,000 and will continue fundraising efforts through the end of 2013.
