Former countrywide sales leader to lead Mortgage Network’s growth in southeastern U.S.

Larry Gunnin brings 30 years of recruiting and operations expertise to growing mortgage lender

DANVERS, MA (October 13, 2014)-- Larry Gunnin, a prolific mortgage sales leader with more than 30 years of experience creating high-performing mortgage sales operations, has joined Mortgage Network Inc. as the company’s Southeast regional manager. Gunnin will be responsible for leading Mortgage Network’s strategic growth in the southern part of the country by opening branches and recruiting mortgage professionals in areas in which the company does not currently have a presence, including North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida, Alabama and Louisiana.

Gunnin has extensive experience in recruiting loan officers, opening new branches and generating billions of dollars in annual origination volume. As a senior regional vice president of Countrywide Home Loans, Gunnin led the company's sales efforts in the South, where he opened 32 branch offices over a 16-year-period and hired and managed more than 330 loan officers and branch managers and 290 operations employees. Gunnin has also served as regional sales leader at MetLife Home Loans, where he oversaw sales in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and North and South Carolina while establishing an operations center in Atlanta, Georgia.

"If you had to pick one person to grow a mortgage company in the southern part of the country, that person would have be Larry Gunnin," said Brian Koss, executive vice president of Mortgage Network. "Not only does Larry have the experience, relationships and vision to expand our presence, he knows exactly what makes great teams work. His track record speaks for itself. We're very fortunate to have him.”

During Gunnin's tenure at Countrywide, his region was ranked top in the nation for eight consecutive years. Gunnin’s other previous roles include regional manager for Academy Mortgage,  business development manager at PennyMac Loan Services, senior vice president at Prime Lending, and senior regional vice president at Bank of America. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Gunnin is an avid horseman and a U.S. Army veteran.

“Joining Mortgage Network was the perfect opportunity for many reasons,” Gunnin said. “Many large bank-owned mortgage lenders are not consistent in their appetites for residential mortgage loans, and many small lenders are new to mortgage lending and have no proven track record. This inconsistency makes obtaining a home loan more difficult for the consumer. For more than a quarter century, Mortgage Network has consistently delivered high levels of service and has grown steadily while remaining independently owned. It’s also among the highest rated companies to work for. My goal will be to leverage these strengths to open new branches throughout the South while encouraging successful loan officers to join what I believe to be the best mortgage lender in the country in Mortgage Network.”

Gunnin said his immediate responsibility is to recruit and open one branch at a time with the best leaders he knows in the market. “I am looking for adults who want to find the best home for their business and never have to move again,” he said.

Based in Danvers, Massachusetts, Mortgage Network provides a complete range of conventional, non-conventional, government and reverse residential mortgage loans.
