Stephen Fitzmaurice has been named director of public affairs for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the nation’s largest and most influential trade association advocating on behalf of America’s 110 million credit union members. Fitzmaurice comes to the organization with a strong background in association and advocacy communications.
“Stephen’s experience in helping associations effectively communicate their policy goals while mobilizing member action will play a key role in helping CUNA advance our members’ priorities in Washington and across the country,” said Vicki Christner, CUNA’s Vice President of Strategic Communications.
Prior to joining CUNA, Fitzmaurice served as a communications specialist for the American Society of Hematology, leading advocacy communications, media relations and scientific writing for the world’s largest organization committed to conquering blood diseases. Stephen has also worked with the Hemophilia Federation of America and the Young Elected Officials Network, and previously served in the office of Senator Bill Nelson of Florida.
Fitzmaurice holds a master’s degree in legislative affairs from the George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Florida.
