First Service Credit Union to complete merger with People’s Trust Federal Credit Union

Combined Organization Will Be Fifth Largest Credit Union in Greater Houston

People’s Trust Federal Credit Union will merge into First Service Credit Union, effective May 1, creating the fifth largest credit union in the Greater Houston area. The merger was finalized after a favorable vote from People’s Trust members during their Annual Meeting on April 16. The finalization of the merger creates a state-chartered,
federally insured financial cooperative with more than $1.4 billion in assets and serve more than 98,000 members.

“Our members are at the forefront of everything we do, and we’re thrilled to deliver an outstanding experience to them,” said Dave Bleazard, First Service CEO and President. “Now that this strategic partnership has finally come to fruition, our combined knowledge and expertise will help us develop new ideas and innovative technologies to enhance members’ lives. We are committed to making sure we help every member reach their financial goals with
First Service, whether in person or digitally.”

The merger will provide members with a larger branch and ATM network as well as enhanced products and services. We are pleased to welcome all People’s Trust employees, and together, First Service will now have more than 260 employees.

“This merger strengthens our ability to positively impact our members and the community,” said Steve Gilman, People’s Trust Interim CEO. “The benefits are far-reaching; our members will have added convenience for their financial needs, our employees will have a larger network of resources, and our community will prosper with a thriving credit union that values people over profit. I’m excited for the future of First Service.”

First Service will be led by Bleazard and a combined senior management team and board of directors comprised of individuals from both credit unions.
