First Harvest Credit Union hosts Camden Future Bankers Camp

Local High School Students Gain Real-World Experience, Credit Union Knowledge, & Practical Skills

DEPTFORD, NJ (July 29, 2024) — First Harvest Credit Union (“First Harvest”) hosted Camden students as a part of the Future Bankers & Financial Professionals Camp. The on-site learning opportunities, hosted by financial institutions, invite students to step beyond the classroom to experience and take a hands-on approach to a professional future in the financial industry.

The Future Bankers and Financial Professionals Camp aims to motivate high-achieving, minority high school juniors and seniors by providing them with opportunities to enhance their career in financial services and instill college readiness and financial education. The Center for Financial Training International (CFT), the FDIC & Federal Reserve Bank, local community colleges, universities, school districts, and financial services institutions work together to provide students not only with entry-level training but also to guide them towards positive career aspirations through relevant workplace skills.
The students who visited First Harvest were exposed to various roles and functions within the credit union’s operations, including member services, information technology, lending, accounting, and more. First Harvest department leaders spoke about the impact their team has on the performance of the credit union and the member experience.
“The Future Bankers and Financial Professionals Camp introduces aspiring young professionals to promising futures in the financial industry,” stated First Harvest President & CEO, Mike Dinneen. “As a credit union participating in this program, we have the unique opportunity to share our community-based values and people helping people philosophy with these students. The professional exposure and real-world banking experience they gain through this program will be invaluable to their success in the very near future, and we wish them all the best wherever their passions take them.”
