YORK, PA (September 12, 2014) -- During the month of August, members and employees of First Capital Federal Credit Union collected donations for our troops serving overseas. And, on September 12, 2014, a day after Patriot Day, First Capital donated those items to Becky Bair, Volunteer Leader of Support Our American Recruits (SOAR). SOAR is affiliated with the York-Adams Chapter of the American Red Cross and was started in 2001 as a support group for family members and loved ones of military personnel to provide a place for people to come together and support one another. The group also supports the troops by sending care packages to those from York and Adams County who are serving overseas. In all, First Capital collected everything from toothbrushes, toothpaste and other toiletries to peanut butter and oatmeal. “I was very pleased with the amount of donations that came in,” said Tara Houser, VP of Marketing, “This is just one little way we can do our part to support our troops.”
