Eli Joseph named CUNA Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer
WASHINGTON, DC (February 8, 2016) — Eli Joseph has been named Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the largest and most influential national financial services trade association in the country advocating on behalf of over 6,000 credit unions and 100 million credit union members. Effective immediately, Joseph will direct the activities of CUNA’s congressional relations staff and help to establish and implement legislative strategy for an advocacy agenda that removes barriers so that credit unions can better serve their members.
“We’re thrilled to have Eli on board and have no doubt his extensive experience and knowledge will serve the association and our 100 million members well on Capitol Hill and beyond,” said Ryan Donovan, CUNA’s chief advocacy officer. “Eli plays an essential role and I’m looking forward to all we’ll accomplish with him on our team.”
Prior to joining CUNA, Joseph worked for Merck & Co., Inc. as Executive Director of Federal Policy and Government Relations. His professional background includes extensive trade association experience as Managing Director of Federal Government Relations at the Biotechnology Industry Association. Joseph served on the staff of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs.
Joseph holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from the George Washington University. A native Californian, he and his wife, Meg, live in Washington with their son, Henry.
