Early Registration Savings Deadline Nears for NAFCU’s 2013 Technology and Security Conference

Washington -  As criminals continue to come up with new ways to steal sensitive information, credit unions attending the National Association of Federal Credit Unions' (NAFCU) 2013 Technology and Security Conference, Feb. 26-28, at the Sheraton Austin at the Capitol in Austin, Texas, will learn how to safeguard and protect this data and bulletproof their bottom lines. The deadline for early registration savings is Jan. 4.

“The theft of member data has far-reaching consequences, and with potential data breach threats like Project Blitzkrieg in the news, it is all the more important that credit unions heighten their defenses,” said Lisa Cox, NAFCU director of events and education.

“This year’s conference will give attendees the latest on how to detect, respond to and—most importantly—prevent these threats."

Keynote speaker John Sileo, author and executive advisor on privacy and reputation, will offer best practices for safeguarding against data breaches. Sileo became an expert on ID theft prevention after his identity was illegally used to embezzle $300,000 from his clients, destroying his company. He is the author of the critically-acclaimed, award-winning book “Stolen Lives: Identity Theft Prevention Made Simple,” as well as his latest book, “Privacy Means Profit.”

In addition, conference attendees will learn the latest on a variety of vital topics, including social engineering and cybercrime detection; social media and online threats; fraud, forensics and incident response; data loss prevention; business continuity evaluation and simulation; Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) exam preparation; and more.

The conference features NAFCU’s Technology and Innovations Showcase, offering cutting-edge solutions to meet credit unions’ security and IT needs.
