Credit unions can easily determine their boards’ skill sets with Quantum Governance’s new Director Skills Assessment tool, available through CUES®.
The online assessment evaluates a board’s individual and collective capabilities in five key areas: governance culture, personal attributes, leadership skills, engagement, and knowledge centers.
“Director Skills Assessment will help credit unions throughout the U.S. and Canada determine where they need to focus their valuable training resources,” said Michael G. Daigneault, CEO & co-founder, Quantum Governance. “Additionally, Canadian credit unions will be glad to know we followed the assessment standards and guidelines recommended by Canadian authorities when we developed Director Skills Assessment, helping them to meet the regulators’ standards.
“Individual board members will benefit from reviewing their personal summary,” said Daigneault. “Additionally, credit unions who participate in Director Skills Assessment receive a full-board report, so they can easily find gaps in their board’s competencies, which will in turn improve recruitment efforts; credit unions can recruit for directors who can bring the needed skills.”
“We are pleased to partner with Quantum Governance to bring this valuable tool to the movement. Michael is well-known throughout the industry; he and his team have years of experience helping develop stronger and more effective boards,” said Karin Sand, CIE, CUES VP/strategic partnerships and solutions. “This new tool will prove invaluable to U.S. and Canadian credit unions alike.”
Board members of participating credit unions receive a secure, personal email with a link to complete the survey. Each member will assess their own capabilities, and those of the board as a whole.
After the survey, the credit union receives a report for each individual director as well as a comprehensive entire-board summary. Director Skills Assessment also includes a one-hour telephone briefing with an expert from Quantum Governance, L3C.
Quantum Governance also offers Board Governance Assessment (formerly Self-Assessment for Credit Union Boards), which is available to the industry, and a free benefit of Center for Credit Union Board Excellence (CCUBE) membership.
