Directions Credit Union, a leader in financial services in Northwest Ohio for more than 70 years, is proud to announce its approved expansion into seven additional counties. This remarkable progress showcases the resilience of the credit union, advancing Directions’ mission to promote financial wellness and empower individuals across the region, ultimately fostering stronger communities within the state.
Directions field of membership will now include Erie, Lorain, Medina, Morrow, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties, extending Directions' reach to new areas across northern, northwest, and north-central Ohio, as well as southeast Michigan. This is in addition to its existing service areas—Ashland, Crawford, Fulton, Huron, Knox, Lucas, Richland, Tuscarawas, Wayne, Wood, Monroe, and Lenawee. With this expansion, Directions Credit Union is positioned to be one of the largest credit unions in Ohio.
As Directions Credit Union looks to the future, it remains committed to helping people achieve financial security and success. “We believe that access to responsible financial solutions can empower individuals to thrive,” said Barry Shaner, CEO of Directions Credit Union. "Our ability to offer financial education resources, affordable lending options, and resources for saving and investing has always been at the heart of what we do. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in people's lives and build a brighter future for everyone."
Plans for development in the seven new counties will start in 2025. Until then, Directions Credit Union membership is now available through their website and digital services to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or does volunteer work in these new regions.
