One year after Finovate introduction, enhanced online storage tool gains popularity
HERNDON, VA (September 17, 2013) -- A year after DigitalMailer’s My Virtual StrongBox was highlighted on stage at FinovateFall 2012 interest continues to grow, along with new features.
The online safe deposit box is now available to 1.2 million users through participating credit unions and other financial organizations. New features include an Education Wizard, designed to help consumers get the most value from the secure storage software. The online tutor enhancement contains an instructional video that gives an overview of how My Virtual StrongBox works, along with an individual profile feature that suggests types of information to store based on completed responses. My Virtual StrongBox also has added a rewards feature that allows users to earn discounts on additional storage space.

Once users log in, two animated characters – security guards Locke and Key™ – start the education process. A video introduces the service, and then Locke and Key explain key features. After answering some general questions, My Virtual StrongBox creates a profile, which is used to make suggestions about types of information to store. The wizard also includes opportunities to earn “keys” that will unlock discount codes for additional storage.
A Software-as-a-Service, My Virtual StrongBox safeguards wills, birth certificates, insurance and tax documents, family photographs and other papers by loading them into protected, online document libraries.
Daly noted that other service providers are just starting to enter the online safe deposit box market.
“In the year since DigitalMailer introduced My Virtual StrongBox, numerous financial institutions have begun offering our product to their customers,” Daly said. “Now other providers see the value and are playing catch up.”
This month marks the launch of a new partnership between DigitalMailer and the Credit Union Executives Society, offering My Virtual StrongBox as a free benefit to the organization’s 7,000 executive and staff members. Each CUES member receives 25 MB of storage in DigitalMailer’s proprietary, cloud-based data center, with an option to buy more space if needed. CUES members also may access My Virtual StrongBox through DigitalMailer’s mobile iPad app.
