Herndon, Va. (Nov. 12, 2010) – DigitalMailer, a CUSO known for its digital communications technology, is adding to its product line a full suite of Compliance Communication tools. The suite combines the company’s online communication services and direct mail to tackle the coming compliance challenges in the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act of 2010. Among the credit unions implementing the Suite is $2 billion Northwest Federal Credit Union in Herndon, Va.
“It’s a world of increasingly complex rules and regulations for credit unions and the member communication requirements are going to increase dramatically” said Gerrianne Burks, NWFCU CEO. “This Compliance Suite is a welcome one-stop-shop for us, and it will free up valuable staff time that can be better directed toward our members.”
Initially, DigitalMailer and NWFCU teamed to successfully roll out a Reg E Compliance Module using multi-channel communications services, which generated “opt-in” requests from 30 percent of the credit union’s identified “high overdraft protection” members. And according to Burks, on an annualized basis, the credit union has already recouped its lost income that would have occurred had it not designed the right communication strategy and used the DigitalMailer communication products to get the Reg E message out.
Ron Daly, CEO of DigitalMailer, explained that the primary driver of NWFCU’s Reg E compliance success was using a combination of electronic, print and outbound voice-call
channels. “NWFCU used the combination of tools that we have available – and their results were impressive,” said Daly. “Expanding the program to the larger ‘Compliance Communication’ requirements coming down the road was the natural next step.”
Credit unions have been asking for help with meeting their growing compliance obligations for some time, said Daly. “So, we bundled a select group of DigitalMailer communication products to gear up for all the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act communications, as well as other compliance measures coming down the road.”
DigitalMailer’s Compliance Communications are designed to increase members’ awareness of changes and drive up their opt-in responses. The company already specializes in e-programs that allow members to control the types of messages they receive from their credit unions and conveniently retrieve their statements, daily notices and tax information in one central online location – capabilities that lend themselves to new compliance notification guidelines.
