Democracy Federal Credit Union donated $500 to the Capital Area Food Bank that provides more than 30 million meals to people in communities across D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Over the past few months, Democracy FCU has joined hands with organizations in our communities in the fight against the effects of COVID-19. We have found strength in communal efforts by reaching across the isles in attempt to support our first responders, business owners, and schools in our back yard. It is our social responsibility as a financial institution, and community partner, to support those around us for the good of all.
What we’ve learned from our staff, schools, and community partners is that a common need throughout the pandemic, and overall, is hunger. More specifically, hunger for our youth. We remain committed to our community to go beyond traditional banking and contribute to solutions that we face as a community.
One out of 10 residents in the metropolitan Washington region is food insecure, and nearly one-third are children. The Capital Area Food Bank is the anchor of the hunger relief infrastructure in our region, but they don’t stop there, they know that creating long term solutions to hunger requires more than meals. It requires education, training, and opportunity. In short, it demands ideas that address the big picture. Partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank allows us to contribute to a solution to fight to end hunger.
Democracy FCU is committed to financial freedom for all, and has implemented several financial programs to help keep families in their homes and food on their tables. These programs include a CASH-N-GO advance loan of up to $1,000 with no credit check, a National Event Short Term Loan of up to $6,000 for 24 months with rates as low as 7.24% APR* and a Skip-A-Pay program to help alleviate one month of auto and/or personal loan payments.
