DCECU compliance and risk management director wins statewide award

Lisa Gray named Michigan Credit Union League’s Credit Union Professional of the Year

LANSING, MI (June 11, 2019) — The Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) has named Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union Compliance and Risk Management Director Lisa Gray as its 2019 Credit Union Professional of the Year.

According to MCUL, the award is given annually to one person who “has been exceptionally supportive of the Michigan credit union movement over the past year. This person helps build an organization of collaboration and enhances teamwork in the organization. He/she inspires others as a direct result of their dedication and leadership. This individual has demonstrated a yearlong effort to affect positive change for their credit union, their chapter and their community.”

Gray, who has worked at DCECU since 1991 and has been in her current role since 2011, received the award June 8 during MCUL’s 2019 Annual Convention & Exposition in Detroit.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled by this prestigious award,” Gray said. “There is no other recognition that would mean more to me than this, from an industry I have loved and served my entire career.”

Gray, a graduate of Michigan State University, holds more than a half-dozen industry certifications and has served DCECU in a variety of roles during her career, including account services, marketing and special projects. She has been a regulatory and legislative advocate for DCECU and the credit union industry since 2000 and was part of a successful effort to modernize the Michigan Credit Union Act that created a more competitive operating and regulatory environment for Michigan’s state-chartered credit unions by removing regulatory hurdles and enabling greater flexibility in serving members. Gray was recognized by MCUL in 2008 for outstanding leadership in advocacy and political action committee (PAC) fundraising.

In addition to her service to the credit union industry, Gray also has been a member of the Michigan Board of Psychology and the Midland County Human Trafficking Task Force. She also is an active community volunteer, participating in such programs as Habitat for Humanity Women Build Week, Habitat for Humanity Neighborhood Revitalization, Adopt-A-Highway and Adopt-A-Street cleanups, and other DCECU volunteer efforts.
