CUNA Volunteer Certification School in Nashville May 1-5, 2017

CUNA Volunteer Certification School will convene its next gathering May 1-5, 2017, in Nashville. The event allows credit union volunteers to master the key functions and responsibilities of their roles, culminating with the opportunity to earn or recertify their Certified Credit Union Volunteer (CCUV) designation.

“You can learn a lot by taking the courses online but you wouldn’t experience the interaction with peers in the class which makes this a week work of great opportunity,” said past attendee Vicki Mattox, board of director, Secretary at Western Heritage Credit Union in Alliance, Nebraska. “I highly recommend board members attend in their first or second term.”

Sessions at CUNA Volunteer Certification School, which prepare attendees for the CCUV certification test, comprise a comprehensive volunteer education. Topics addressed include governance, financials, asset-liability management, oversight and strategic planning.

“People take notice of the CCUV designation because it demonstrates a serious commitment to board and volunteer service,” said Michelle Johnson, instructional design manager, CUNA. “CCUVs have a deeper knowledge of their credit union and the part they play in ensuring its success.”

The school also allows attendees to engage in high-impact discussions and build connections with peers, making it one of the top networking events for credit union volunteers.

The CCUV Update Program, held May 1-3, 2017 also in Nashville, provides a venue for existing CCUVs to recertify their designations while exploring new industry trends and the ever-changing role of the volunteer.
