CUNA, New Mexico CUs host Campaign School

Credit Union National Association and the Credit Union Association of New Mexico hosted its fourth Campaign School of the 2018 election cycle today in Albuquerque. The educational program serves as a "How To" guide for prospective candidates for public office and campaign workers. The one-day, non-partisan event features sessions on campaign organization, communication and fundraising.

“We’ve found over the years that this is a really successful program when it comes to providing early exposure to credit unions for first-time candidates who end up running for office and often end up moving to higher levels of office,” said Trey Hawkins, CUNA’s vice president of political affairs. “It’s a terrific program, and we’re excited to be partnering with the Credit Union Association of New Mexico for it.”

CUNA Chief Political Officer Richard Gose led training sessions alongside media experts including, Vice President of Leverage Point, Inc. Dan Mayfield. CUNA and CUANM staff were joined by local politicians from both Santa Fe and the state of New Mexico, such as New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toluse Oliver. Additional speakers include newly elected Albuquerque and Santa Fe City Council members, who are also credit union board members.

Specific topics covered include:

  • Campaign planning;
  • Fundraising;
