CUNA joins forces with the Federation for 2015 CUNA Community Credit Union and Growth Conference

MADISON, WI (September 29, 2014) — CUNA is proud to announce that the 2015 CUNA Community Credit Union & Growth Conference will be held in partnership with the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions (the Federation). The Federation will also present a pair of sessions at the conference, which is set to take place September 22-25, 2015 in Phoenix, AZ.

“We’re thrilled to have the Federation onboard as a part of this community-focused event,” said Meghann Dawson, Director of Learning Events,  “They have a wealth of valuable industry insights to offer for any credit union that’s interested in playing a bigger role in their local underserved communities – not to mention practical applications and takeaways that complement the goals of this conference perfectly.”

The Federation will host the following sessions onsite:

  • Developing Your Emerging Market Strategy: How Your Credit Union Can Reach Underserved Markets In this interactive workshop, participants will go through a guided self-assessment of their credit union’s current products and services for emerging markets in their local community. The Federation will then provide attendees with guidance on how to address any gaps identified using the Emerging Market Review (EMR), an analytical tool based on thirty years of work in community development finance.
  • CDFI Certification as a Gateway to Growth: Findings of the National Federation of CDCUs and CUNA-sponsored research on the CDFI Credit Union Experience

During this session, the Federation will present findings on the 173 CDFI-certified credit unions across the United States and how they have effectively accessed external resources to grow their institutions and become leaders in technology and innovative member services.  With nearly 300 additional U.S. credit unions eligible for CDFI Certification, attendees will learn about the Federation’s rigorous performance, product and service analysis as well as the requirements of becoming certified.

Every year, the CUNA Community Credit Union & Growth Conference allows attendees to develop and implement strategies for fostering important community ties by meeting with knowledgeable industry vendors and taking part in valuable peer conversations. During hot-topic sessions, industry experts will introduce new perspectives, strategies and action-plans for overcoming the biggest challenges facing community credit unions in 2015.
