Credit union sponsors Black Maternal Health Week events

Fresno, CA (April 10, 2025) |

In honor of Black Maternal Health Week (April 11 to 17), Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) is proud to sponsor events hosted by the BLACK Wellness & Prosperity Center (BWPC) in Fresno. These initiatives aim to improve Black maternal and infant health outcomes in the Central Valley.

Founded in 2017 by Shantay R. Davies-Balch, BWPC is dedicated to addressing the critical health disparities affecting Black women and families. The organization focuses on improving infant mortality rates, reducing preterm births, and preventing maternal mortality.

As part of Black Maternal Health Week, BWPC hosted a Black Maternal Health Exhibition during ArtHop in Downtown Fresno on April 3. It will be followed by a Health Fair and Jubilee on Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Our goal is to be a catalyst to improve well-being and prosperity in the Black community, ensuring long-term improvements in Black maternal and child health,” Davies-Balch said. “We deeply appreciate partners like EECU for their support in expanding our events and elevating our vision.”

As a member-owned, not-for-profit credit union, EECU is committed to supporting organizations like BWPC that make a lasting impact on the community. To learn more about EECU’s community initiatives, visit myEECU.org.
