Local Credit Union Recognized for Decades of Commitment to Whittier Community
Residents and business owners gathered at King Richard’s Antique Center on Thursday, March 21 for the Whittier Chamber of Commerce Business Recognition and Board Installation Luncheon where Credit Union of Southern California was named the 2013 "Business of the Year.”
The local credit union was recognized for its service and involvement in the Whittier community since its charter as Whittier Area Schools Federal Credit Union in 1954.
“Credit Union of Southern California has been a key piece of the local economy in Whittier for years. The company and its employees are generous contributors and participants in the community and exemplary members of the Chamber,” explained Whittier Chamber Executive Director Carol Crosby. “CU SoCal understands that their company’s success is directly proportionate to the quality of people they employ, the overall success of the business community, and the people they serve.”
CU SoCal President/CEO, Dave Gunderson, accepted the award on behalf of the credit union stating, “We have been proud to call Whittier our home for almost 60 years. CU SoCal would not be here today to accept this award if it were not for the support of the Whittier community. It is our pleasure to serve and give back to Whittier.”
“We are honored to receive this award,” offered Michelle Hunter, CU SoCal SVP of Marketing and Development. “It has been our pleasure to serve alongside the Whittier community to help build better lives. We appreciate the Chamber’s recognition of CU SoCal’s contributions and look forward to serving this community for years to come.”
