Credit Union Helps Students Gear Up For School

South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union Donates Supplies to Students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools

MIAMI, FL (August 26, 2013) -- Over 200 Miami-Dade County Public School (MDCPS) students returned to school with the supplies they need for a successful year, courtesy of South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union (SFEFCU).

The Credit Union donated more than 1,000 items, which included: pencils, crayons, glue sticks and notebooks to students from District 2 schools.  The items were distributed earlier this month at a back to school celebration held in Miami Northwestern Senior High School.

“All students deserve to start every school year with enthusiasm, hope and joy for the thrilling journey they are embarking upon,” said Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall, School Board member for District 2.

The partnership with Dr. Bendross-Mindingall is one of various ways SFEFCU contributes to the educational communities across Miami Dade County.  In addition, the Credit Union offers financial literacy workshops, scholarship opportunities, and internship programs to students.
