Credit Union Association of the Dakotas Awards Scholarships to High School Seniors

(June 26, 2013) The Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) recently awarded $5,000 in scholarships. Ten credit union members, all graduating high-school seniors, each received $500 towards their further education.

The recipients were selected from a pool of applicants who were members of a CUAD affiliated credit union for at least one year and were planning on attending a postsecondary university or technical/vocational school.  A panel of five judges selected the winners based upon an essay written by the students. The applicants chose to write about one of two topics: “How, through your involvement in the community/school activities, events, or volunteer efforts have you shown the cooperative spirit?” or “What can your credit union do to continue providing you with financial solutions for a lifetime?”

The following students were each awarded a $500 scholarship:

Kaylee R. Vander Wal (Dakotaland Federal CU)

Thorn A. Dramstad (HB Telco Federal CU)

Amy Shan (Dakotaland Federal CU)

Riley G. Larson (Palace City Federal CU)

Stefani C. Matthies (Service First Federal)

Austin H. Mack (Western Cooperative CU)

Mekenzie S. Scheresky (Prairie Federal CU)

Dylan R.  Schnabel (Hometown CU)
