Creative solution to eliminate collections calls selected as winner of KnockOut 2015

Team Mo¹ Proactive from FLAG Credit Union and PSCU takes home first prize at PSCU¹s annual event

Team Mo¹ Proactive has been selected as the winner of KnockOut 2015, a 24-hour competitive payments summit hosted by PSCU last month. The winning idea from the five-person team, which was made up of members from FLAG Credit Union and PSCU employees, could be brought to market to benefit PSCU credit unions and their members as soon as next year.

This year¹s winning idea which was selected following 24-hours of ideation and three rounds of voting is a pop-up feature that eliminates collection calls in early delinquency stages, offers multiple payment options and enhances the overall member experience. PSCU would like to congratulate Mo¹ Proactive team members Carrie Edgerson and Beth Wheeler from FLAG Credit Union in Tallahassee, Florida; and Elizabeth Rowe, Heidi Thomas and Ed Warren from PSCU in St. Petersburg, Florida.

³The single biggest reason our idea resonated with the judges and voters was that it speaks to an unspoken need in the collections arena,² said Wheeler, Member Solutions Representative at FLAG Credit Union. ³There is a need for a new strategy to bridge the gap to the millennial generation in particular, and we delivered something people didn¹t even know they were missing until we pointed it out!²

Twenty-four teams came together during KnockOut with a goal of collaborating to discover new solutions to enhance the credit union member experience.Ideas were required to fall into three categories: Member Experience, Credit Union Experience, and Growth. KnockOut was held in every PSCU office St. Petersburg Florida; Phoenix, Arizona; and Allen Park, Michigan and at a fourth location hosted by HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union in Honolulu, Hawaii.

According to Wheeler, participating in KnockOut was a natural evolution of the credit union¹s long-term relationship with PSCU:

³FLAG Credit Union has used PSCU for credit card processing and bill pay for more than three decades they are one of our most trusted partners. One of the benefits of being a PSCU Member-Owner is that we have the opportunity to work with them to develop products and solutions that ultimately benefit our members,² added Wheeler.

³Our hats are off to all of the teams that competed at KnockOut 2015,² said Chuck Fagan, President and CEO of PSCU. ³We believe Team Mo¹ Proactive¹s winning idea has the potential to enable credit union growth and provide an unparalleled member experience, which is what PSCU is all about. We look forward to helping bring their idea to market.²

Many of the ideas presented started with a front office problem and offered a front office solution. Team Mo¹ Proactive¹s idea stood apart in that it started with a back office problem and created a front office solution. According to Wheeler and other winning team members, their idea offers a universal solution.

³Whether your member base is broad or sizable, or focused and compact, this solution will help credit unions of any size help their members while recovering debt at the same time,² said Wheeler.

Second place went to Team Lava Rush from HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union in Honolulu, Hawaii, for an app that allows crowdfunding for life events.
