Cornerstone promotes Kati Buchanan to Vice President

Long-time credit union professional to serve small CUs in enhanced role

PLANO, TX (August 7, 2020) — Cornerstone Credit Union League recently announced the promotion of Kati Buchanan to operations and engagement vice president. In this new role, Buchanan will provide value and deliver solutions to help small credit unions reach their business goals and objectives. She will also serve as a liaison to the Small Credit Union Committee, as well as several Cornerstone councils and chapters. In addition, she will continue to play an integral role in the sustainment and growth of numerous Cornerstone initiatives and will continue her service as a primary member of the Cornerstone engagement team.

“Kati has proven to be an invaluable member of the Cornerstone team for several years, and she has served credit unions splendidly during her tenure,” said Credit Union Relations Senior Vice President Michael Delker. “Kati exemplifies the credit union philosophy in all her credit union interactions, and her team-oriented approach to serving them is an example to all. This is a very well-deserved promotion, and I know Kati will continue her high level of service to the Cornerstone credit union community in this new role.”

Buchanan, who joined the League in 2014, started her Cornerstone career as the assistant vice president of small credit development. In 2019, she was named engagement manager, working on programs for all member credit unions. Buchanan earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University and graduated from the Southeast CUNA Management School in Georgia. Prior to joining the League, she worked at a small credit union in Louisiana as the vice president of operations. She brings 19 years of experience working within the financial industry.

“It is such an honor to work at Cornerstone and specifically with small credit unions,” Buchanan said. “Small credit unions are a vital part of the credit union ecosystem and the members they serve. I hope to continue to empower small credit unions to make a big impact and keep our movement strong.”
