Kalamazoo, MI (March 5, 2025) |
Consumers Credit Union announces the appointment of Mortgage Operations Manager Nathan Smeltzer and three new mortgage loan officers, Matt Eldred, Everett Hurt and Adriana Salazar-Correa respectively.
Matt Eldred brings along over 24 years of experience in the mortgage industry, helping over 3,000 families realize their dreams of homeownership. His extensive experience, especially with VA loans, will prove a great asset for working effectively with a diverse range of people.
“I find great satisfaction in seeing a member achieve their dreams of homeownership,” said Eldred. “Knowing that I made a difference in their lives, whether they are a first-time home buyer or purchasing their forever home, always brings me joy.”
Eldred will serve home buyers in the Kalamazoo and Portage market.
Everett Hurt will be serving our Lansing market. Hurt has an almost 20-year career in the mortgage industry, with a wealth of experience in originating all types of loans.
“Purchasing a home can be the biggest transaction anyone can ever encounter and often times it can be intimidating,” said Hurt. “What I love about my role is being able to educate the borrower so much that I can make it feel non-stressful. The excitement they have ignites me every single time.”
Hurt’s previous experience with lenders and personal experience as a real estate investor have granted him a wealth of knowledge about loan situations and allow him to connect with borrowers.
Also joining the team, Adriana Salazar-Correa will serve the Holland market at the Riley office. Salazar-Correa is a native Spanish speaker and comes to Consumers with over 17 years of experience as a mortgage loan officer.
“Guiding members to homeownership and simplifying the process is truly rewarding,” said Salazar-Correa. “At the end of the day, it’s about making a positive impact on their lives and ensuring they feel confident in their financial decisions.”
Salazar-Correa’s background has equipped her with a deep understanding of mortgage products and the overall lending process, which will serve our members well.
Rounding out the additions to the team is Nathan Smeltzer serving as a mortgage operations manager. Smeltzer joins Consumers with over 30 years in the finance industry, starting as a teller and working his way through every branch position before transitioning to management.
“I’m looking forward to being a part of the continued lending growth that Consumers has seen,” said Smeltzer. “It’s important to me to bring a fresh perspective and continue to find ways that I can enhance member satisfaction and work to streamline existing processes.”
Smeltzer’s career thus far has involved every step of the mortgage process, which gives him a unique perspective on how a team can best deliver exceptional member service.
