From April 1st through June 30, 2022, local residents can help make a difference in their communities by cashing in their spare change. As part of its Coins-for-Change program, Connex Credit Union collects 5% from members and 7% from non-members and donates 100 percent of the fees collected to four charitable organizations.
As part of Connex’s philanthropic initiative ConnexCares, Coins-for-Change supports four new charities each quarter and contributes more than $14,000 annually. It is available to anyone, including those who are not members of the credit union.
“Participating in Coins-for-Change is an easy way for folks to help worthwhile causes while putting a little extra money in your pocket,” said Louise Nestor, director of marketing, Connex Credit Union. “Small change can really add up and help make a big difference in your local community. Bring your spare change to one of our coin-cashing machines at the following Connex branches by June 30, and 100 percent of the fee will be automatically donated to the participating organization.”
• Connex’s Guilford Branch, located at 849 Boston Post Road, will donate to Sanctuary Kitchen. Sanctuary Kitchen, a program of CitySeed in partnership with a network of community volunteers, was formed in 2017 to promote and celebrate the culinary traditions, cultures, and stories of refugees and immigrants resettled in Connecticut.
• Connex’s Monroe Branch, located at 155 Main Street, will donate to Fostering Family Hope. Fostering Family Hope supports children in foster care and their families. Their programs provide basic essentials, emergency placement support, special events for families and support groups.
• Connex’s North Haven Branch, located at 412 Washington Avenue, will donate to the Road to Refuge Animal Sanctuary. The Road to Refuge is committed to removing animals from toxic and/or desperate situations as well as saving animals from slaughter.
• Connex’s Hamden Branch, located at 2100 Dixwell Avenue, will donate to the Forever in My Heart Foundation. The foundation rescues and trains dogs to become service dogs for disabled veterans.
