Community shreds and recycles over 7 tons of sensitive documents

WARNER ROBINS, GA (September 24, 2013) -- Central Georgia residents recently shred 14,500 pounds, or 7.25 tons, of documents containing sensitive material at Robins Federal Credit Union’s popular Shred Day events.

Three Shred Day events were held last week at Robins Federal Credit Union’s Perry Parkway branch in Perry, North Houston Road branch in Warner Robins, and Hartley Bridge Road branch in Macon.

Shred Day is a semiannual event with a dual purpose - to protect the Middle Georgia community from identity theft and to protect the environment. Members of the community are invited to shred personal information, including financial records, receipts and prescriptions. All shredded documents are then recycled.

Robins Federal Credit Union is a local non-profit financial cooperative with nineteen branches in central Georgia. Robins Federal currently provides financial services to over 150,000 members, with assets exceeding $1.8 billion. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the 16 counties Robins Federal serves.
