LIVONIA, MI (September 3, 2013) – Co-op Services filled more than 83 new backpacks with school supplies during its fifth annual backpack drive held in partnership with Volunteers of America (VOA) Michigan, 96.3 WDVD and Fox 2 Detroit.
During July and August, Co-op Services collected new backpacks, folders, notebooks, pens, scissors, pencils and other supplies at donation boxes in the credit union’s branch offices. The credit union’s team members also raised money for supplies through a “School Spirit” dress-down day.
“Along with the backpacks and school supplies, we received a generous monetary donations from the Downriver Wanderers Classic Car Club that allowed us to present a check of more than $240, ,along with 13 additional filled backpacks from Toyota Boshoku America, Inc., to the VOA,” said Jeremy Cybulski, youth and community development coordinator for Co-op Services Credit Union.
“Thanks to everyone who contributed, more students in Michigan will be able start the school year,” said Diane Bolton, Donor Relations and Fund Development Coordinator of VOA. “It’s heartwarming to see the smiles of delight on children’s faces when they receive their backpacks.’
