City of Fairfax School Board Recognizes Apple Federal Credit Union for Its Support

FAIRFAX, VA (May 22, 2013) The City of Fairfax School Board recently recognized Apple Federal Credit Union for the company’s strong support of the division’s schools. Apple FCU was honored as part of the Virginia School Boards Association’s (VSBA) 2013 Business Honor Roll program. Apple received the award for contributing to the financial education and success of the students with programs which include mentoring and reading partnerships with Providence Elementary.

“From donating funds via their Education Foundation to providing mentors and reading partners to our students, Apple Federal Credit Union has always been a strong supporter of Fairfax City Schools,” said Peter Noonan, Superintendent, City of Fairfax Schools. “Fairfax City Schools and its students, board members, administrators and staff would like to express their sincere appreciation for all that Apple Federal Credit Union does for the children of our community.”

“We are honored to be named to the 2013 VSBA Business Honor Roll,” said Larry Kelly, president/CEO of Apple FCU. “Being actively involved with the schools is second nature to Apple because education is something we value and are passionate about. The Apple FCU family truly cares about our membership, and the children and families in our community as a whole.”

The VSBA Business Honor Roll program, in its first year, gives school divisions a way to say “thank you” to local businesses and recognize them for their valuable contributions to the schools. The VSBA provides personalized certificates to present to businesses, as well as a resource kit to help school divisions with their recognition activities.
