Credit Union National Association (CUNA) is pleased to welcome author, speaker, and agent for social change Kevin Carroll to its annual CUNA Government Affairs Conference (GAC), March 2-4, 2021. While growing up in Philadelphia, Carroll felt lost in a rough and tumble world. But that changed when he discovered his own inner strength and the power of the “red rubber ball.” A ball from his childhood provided community and instilled a love of sports and now serves as a metaphor for the power of play, innovation and chasing one’s dreams. This closing keynote session is sponsored by CUNA Councils.
Carroll’s background includes a decade in the Air Force, time as a trainer with the Philadelphia 76ers, and a seven-year stint with Nike—which created a position specifically for him and where Carroll earned his “Katalyst” nickname. He later started The Katalyst Consultancy and has dedicated his life to advancing sports and play as a vehicle for social change and a way to show others how to chase their own “red rubber ball.” Carroll is also the author of four books, which build on these life-affirming themes.
“Challenging times and changing member needs demand credit unions be flexible and open to change,” said Todd Spiczenski, Chief Products Officer at CUNA. “We’re excited to learn from Kevin and tap into our own inner creativity to drive understanding and innovation to better serve our members.”
Typically held in Washington D.C., this year’s virtual conference will retain the key elements of the in-person conference: thought-provoking speakers, breakout sessions and opportunities to connect with lawmakers, business leaders and credit union peers from across the nation.
