CFPB adopts CUNA stance on transparency
(May 21, 2014) — Following the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) announcement that it will begin opening meetings of the Credit Union Advisory Council, Consumer Advisory Board, Community Bank Advisory Council and Academic Research Council, CUNA’s SVP and Deputy General Council Mary Dunn issued the following statement:
“We fully support the CFPB’s decision to open its meetings and allow for greater transparency. Open meetings allow all who are interested in the proceedings to be involved. This policy change is a step in the right direction and aligned with our stance on transparency.”
The CFPB’s June 18 meeting in Reno, Nevada will mark the first open meeting, allowing the public to attend in person or watch a livestream online.
