Celebrate ‘One World Through Cooperative Finance’ on International Credit Union Day® at Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union
PETERSBURG, VA (September 20, 2024) — On October 17, 2024, credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 76th anniversary of this celebration, themed “One World Through Cooperative Finance.” Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union will honor the occasion with a Member Appreciation Day and After-Hours Open House.
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 403 million members in 98 countries worldwide. Over 82,000 credit unions exist globally, providing many financial services for their members, recognized as a force for positive economic and social change.
The Member Appreciation Celebration will kick off at 9 am on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at both the Colonial Heights and Petersburg branch locations. Members can drop by for snacks, SWAG, and the chance to enter a prize drawing, which includes gift cards. The event will run until 5:00 pm.
The After-Hours Open House will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Petersburg branch, located at 110 Wagner Road. This event will bring together local community leaders, business owners, and residents to celebrate Peoples Advantage’s commitment to the community, offering networking opportunities designed to help the area thrive.
“We don’t often open our doors for networking opportunities,” President/CEO, Amanda Habansky states, “but we want to open our newly renovated home to celebrate International Credit Union Day with our community to give a behind-the-scenes look at the credit union’s mission of ‘People Helping People’.”
