LAS VEGAS, NV (June 12, 2024) |
In an announcement made by the State Bar of Nevada, Clark County Credit Union (CCCU) received Platinum Partner status for its interest earned on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) account. A Platinum Partner pays 2.0 percent or more interest on an IOLTA, which provides crucial legal aid services regardless of financial circumstances. As of June 1, 2024, Clark County Credit Union pays 2.27% APY on its IOLTA account. See the CCCU website for current rates.
According to the State Bar of Nevada’s announcement, “An IOLTA is one of the top three sources of funding for legal aid in Nevada. Approved Nevada financial institutions for IOLTA pay favorable rates on IOLTA interest. That interest is pooled and granted by the Nevada Bar Foundation to legal related organizations in Nevada with most funds directed to Nevada’s legal aid providers.”
The Nevada Bar Foundation’s IOLTA program helps organizations that directly work with the poor, victims of domestic violence, senior citizens, children protected by or in need of protection by the juvenile court and other persons who may be denied access to justice. In the 2023 annual report, the Foundation distributed more than $6 million in IOLTA grant dollars since 2014. These funds helped more than 40,000 households statewide to get access to civil legal services.
As part of the credit union’s motto of People Helping People, CCCU believes that this initiative will help improve the lives of the Nevada residents and ensure each resident gets access to fair and equal legal assistance.
