Black Hills Federal Credit Union donates over $18,000 to the United Way of the Black Hills
RAPID CITY, SD (January 15, 2021) — Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) proudly donated $18,025 to the United Way of the Black Hills. The donation is one of the many ways the Credit Union fulfills its mission to improve lives. By partnering with the United Way, BHFCU will help improve the lives of many people in need this winter.
The contribution made by BHFCU to the United Way was a group effort. A combination of staff pledges, a corporate donation, and several Jeans Day fundraisers throughout the year made up the more than $18,000 donated.
“It is the credit union’s goal to make meaningful improvements in the communities we serve,” said Jerry Schmidt, president and CEO. “By donating to the United Way of the Black Hills, we are impacting the lives of numerous individuals and families in ways they truly need.”
In 2020, the United Way of the Black Hills touched the lives of over 101,000 individuals through their programs and outreach. From giving over 66,000 age-appropriate books to children and libraries to providing access to essential health services, the United Way is an important community partner.
Annually, BHFCU supports more than 75 organizations and projects through employee fundraisers and Jeans Day donations, contributions from the organization, and donations from members, staff, and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on improving lives.
