Black Hills Federal Credit Union donates $1,500 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills

RAPID CITY, SD (August 16, 2022) — Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) recently donated $1,500 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills as a part of our Community Action Team (CAT) program.
Big Brothers Big Sisters unites young people (littles) with caring, positive adult role models (bigs) in one-on-one mentoring friendship matches. The program provides social and emotional support and helps littles build confidence and resilience. Each match typically costs the organization around $1,200.
“This year, our goal was to raise enough money to cover the cost of one match,” said Beth Cowles, Loans & Member Services Operations Manager and Big Brothers Big Sisters CAT Project Chair. “Having personal experience with the organization, I was moved by the support of my workplace to help fund a big/little match in the Black Hills.”
Our staff members tried their luck at a chance to win an outdoor experience basket featuring a weekend getaway. Funds raised through the raffle and Jeans Day donations allowed BHFCU to donate $1,500.
BHFCU’s mission of improving lives is achieved by living out this principle and offering ways for employees to support their community. Run internally by staff members; the CAT program was developed in 1996 to provide staff the opportunity to fundraise for and provide resources to causes near to their hearts.
BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers and Jeans Day donations, and contributions from members, staff, and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
