BHFCU staff raises over $12k in Q3
RAPID CITY, SD (November 5, 2024) — Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) proudly empowers its employees to make a difference in their communities. This commitment is exemplified by their longstanding support of the staff-led Community Action Team (CAT). In the third quarter, BHFCU staff raised an impressive $12,133, significantly impacting the charitable organizations they support.
From July through September, the CAT program focused on creating a better community, supporting students, and championing health and wellness. It wasn’t all about the money – sweat equity was also involved. During this time, staff volunteered 87 hours of their time.
BHFCU’s support extended to eight organizations from Sioux Falls to Billings. These include Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity, the Alzheimer’s Association South Dakota Chapter, Journey On, Americans for Suicide Prevention, SD Salutes, and Adopt-A-Mile in Pierre, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls. Fundraising efforts also supported BHFCU’s School Support Drive, which donated to a combination of 29 classrooms, schools, and educational organizations.
“I love the diversity of giving that CAT promotes among our employees,” shared Meghan Rose, Marketing Strategist. “Throughout the year, our employees give to 60+ organizations that are important to their peers, and they might not otherwise know about. It highlights all the good that is being done in our communities.”
An appreciation for healthy competition and baked goods highlighted the third quarter. In August, with 40+ packages donated by local businesses and BHFCU leadership, a flurry of bids from our enthusiastic staff raised thousands. Fast forward to September, when hearts and stomachs were full after 15 incredible bakers whipped up 400+ delicious treats.
Please join BHFCU in celebrating the charitable contributions of its staff, who live the credit union’s mission to improve lives every day.
BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers, and donations from members and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
