Barksdale Federal Credit Union’s Taylor Named to NAFCU Board

WASHINGTON – The National Association of Federal Credit Unions has named Rod Taylor, president and CEO of Barksdale Federal Credit Union, as Region IV director on the NAFCU board of directors. Taylor replaces board member Randy Smith, who stepped down concomitant to his retirement as CEO of Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union. In accordance with NAFCU’s bylaws, Taylor may serve in his appointed capacity until the conclusion of the association’s annual business meeting in July 2013.

“As NAFCU gears up for another formidable year of activity, we welcome Rod with confidence that his years of experience and dedication to the credit union movement will serve us well,” said NAFCU Chair Mike Parsons, president and CEO of First Source Federal Credit Union.

“Randy has been a valued member of the NAFCU board for many years, and we wish him all the best in his retirement,” Parsons added.

Taylor joined Barksdale FCU, headquartered in Bossier City, La., as executive vice president and chief operations officer in 1992, and became president and CEO in 2008. With assets exceeding $1 billion, Barksdale FCU is the largest locally owned credit union in Louisiana.

Taylor serves as chairman of the board of CU Cooperative Branching, LLC, Louisiana’s shared branching credit union service organization. He also serves on the board of the Business Alliance Financial Services, LCC, and as vice chairman of the board of Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union.

“NAFCU has proven to be a powerful advocate for credit unions in Washington during these critical times,” said Taylor. “I am pleased to take on this important role in helping to guide the association and represent federal credit unions in my region.”

Taylor served for four years in the U.S. Coast Guard before beginning his career in the financial services industry at U.S. National Bank of Oregon, followed by OSU Federal Credit Union. He holds an MBA from Oregon State University.
