Blue Eagle Credit Union rewards young members for their hard work in school
ROANOKE, VA (July 11, 2013) -- Members of Blue Eagle Credit Union in Kindergarten through grade 12 can earn dollars for every final A and B on their report cards. “We recognize that these young members will soon be leaders in our credit union, but also our communities. We want to encourage them to do their best in school and show them how hard work can help them achieve their goals, whatever those may be for each young member,” shares CEO Jeff Thompson.
Commenting on the local academics, Thompson adds, “We applaud the school systems in our area that have added a required class of Personal Finance. Good financial habits will ensure these students get off on the right financial footing, which benefits our communities as well. We would welcome the opportunity to assist with any materials or resources within our means that would enhance the financial literacy curriculum in the classrooms.”
Blue Eagle Credit Union requires their members in K-12 to bring in or send in a copy of their final report card by August 1st of each year in order to be rewarded. They make a deposit into the student’s account with the credit union, paying $2 for every final A and $1 for every final B, up to a maximum deposit of $15.
