Atlanta Postal Credit Union (APCU) recently made member LuAn Hobson’s day by paying off the remaining balance on her auto loan for her 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime, a plug-in hybrid.
“I can’t believe I don’t have to make a car payment anymore,” said Hobson. “I own that Rav4 Prime now! I’m absolutely thrilled.”
Hobson was the lucky winner of APCU’s Auto Loan Payoff Sweepstakes, which ran from July 1 until Sept. 30. Any member who financed an auto loan during that time period with APCU – or Center Parc Credit Union, a division of APCU – was automatically entered to have their loan balance paid in full up to $35,000. Members who also purchased GAP Insurance or Route 66 Extended Warranty Protection through the Credit Union received additional entries into the sweepstakes.
Hobson joined APCU in 2004 through her late mother, who was not only a retired postmaster from East Bend, N.C., but also served as mayor pro tem and a town commissioner of the small town.
“Mom was one smart lady, so I felt confident I made the right decision when she convinced me to join APCU,” said Hobson. “I am so glad I had that option as the child of a long time postal employee, and wish she could see now just how beneficial that decision has been! When my husband and I got married a couple of years ago, we needed to refinance our house, and we thought of the credit union then also. The mortgage department made that process very easy.”
Hobson refinanced her Rav4 Prime with APCU during the promotional period – and the Credit Union randomly selected her name as the winner from more than 3,400 entries. As a result, the Credit Union paid off all $ 16, 845.17 remaining on Hobson’s auto loan.
According to data from Lending Tree, auto loan debt is the third-largest debt category in the U.S. behind mortgages and student loans. In fact, Americans owe $1.46 trillion in auto loan debt. For that reason, APCU is proud to run promotions such as these for our members – and plans to run more in the future! Check www.apcu.com for details.
“At APCU, we’re thrilled to be able to help our members thrive financially,” said Blake Graham, president of APCU. “Given our history of serving postal workers and their families, we were proud that we were able to pay off LuAn’s vehicle – and we’d like to thank her for being a member of APCU!”
At APCU, we welcome postal workers and their families – but you don’t have to be one to join us! Check out our site to learn more.
