TEXAS CITY, Texas (January 16, 2013) – For the fourth consecutive year, AMOCO Federal Credit Union employees, volunteers, and members generously donated new, unwrapped toys to Toys for Tots – Galveston County. This year, the credit union collected 450 toys that were distributed to local charities! In part to AMOCO’s effort, and hard-working elves known as U.S. Marines, Christmas morning was filled with smiles.
As part of their commitment to give back, AMOCO Federal Credit Union accepted toy donations at their six branch locations during the months of November and December. In addition, they also advertised their partnership with Toys for Tots and asked the community to get involved by including information in their monthly electronic newsletter, on their website and Facebook page, as well as utilizing other channels of communication. The credit union is proud to have once again been a corporate sponsor for Toys for Tots – Galveston County and in 2011, AMOCO received The United States Marine Corps Reserve Commander’s Award for outstanding support of the Toys for Tots Program.
To recap the 2012 Toys for Tots program: more than 12,000 children were identified by local charities as “needy”. Charities that received toy assistance this year include Salvation Army (Galveston & Texas City); La Marque-based Helping Hands; Empty Stocking Program; Galveston Police Memorial Foundation; and Dickinson Police Department’s Blue Santa Program, just to name a few. AMOCO would like to thank the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. These individuals dedicate their time and energy year after year with the same goal in mind: to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
