TEXAS CITY, TX (March 4, 2013) – On Monday, February 18, 2013 AMOCO Federal Credit Union hosted their 76th Annual Meeting & Expo at the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center in Texas City. The evening’s theme was “Oh the places you’ll go with AMOCO,” based on famous author, Dr. Seuss. The theme is also fitting with AMOCO’s firm belief in providing limitless opportunities for their membership. From financial seminars, low rate loans and various cost-saving products and services, AMOCO prides itself on being a true advocate for their members.
To enhance the night’s theme, the credit union transformed the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center into “AMOCO-whoville.” From the custom murals painted to look like rolling hills with small, unique whoville-type homes found in Whovillle, to the life size replicas of Dr. Seuss’ iconic books, AMOCO brought the imaginative, colorful theme to life.
During the two hour event, 23 AMOCO SEGs (Select Employee Group) and 28 member exhibitors were on hand to showcase their products and services, as well as network with other members and business owners. One of the highlights of the night took place during the Annual Business Meeting. AMOCO CEOPresident, Shawn Bailey, recognized several individuals and one business for their commitment and dedication to the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” The following awards were given: 2012 Volunteer of the Year – Director of the Board of Directors, Bob Steel; 2012 SEG (Select Employee Group) of the Year – Oiltanking; and 2012 Member of the Year – John J. Fraser. Mr. Bailey also introduced the credit union’s 2012 Employee of the Year, Javian Jackson and the 2012 Manager of the Year, Tina Foster. Joining in the celebration was AMOCO’s Board of Directors and members of the credit union’s Supervisory, Governance and Advisory Board Committees.
Located in the Texas Heroes Room of the Doyle Convention Center, AMOCO had a fun photo booth available for members to take pictures in silly Dr. Seuss hats. Props included were costume pieces from Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, The Lorax, and more! Members of all ages had fun taking pictures in front of the custom-created “Cat in the Hat” replicated book. In addition to fun memories, each person who attended AMOCO’s 76th Annual Meeting & Membership Expo took home an AMOCO tote bag, pen, cup, and many more goodies! AMOCO would like to thank Clary’s Seafood Restaurant, Joe’s BBQ; Luna’s Mexican Restaurant & Especial Event Banquet Hall, and Rosario’s for providing refreshments. They would also like to extend a big thank to AMOCO’s Platinum Club and to all the SEG and Member Exhibitors.
