AMOCO Federal Credit Union celebrated the global credit union movement
TEXAS CITY, TX (October 18, 2024) — On October 17, 2024, credit union members around the world celebrated International Credit Union Day ©, an annual event commemorating the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 76th anniversary of this annual event, which was celebrated under the theme of “One World Through Cooperative Finance.” In honor of International Credit Union Day (ICU Day), AMOCO Federal Credit Union dedicated the entire week to various events celebrating the credit union movement.
AMOCO kicked off festivities on October 12, starting with a focus on the environment with our Shred Day event. AMOCO teamed up with Iron Mountain Secure Shredding to provide free, confidential shredding for members to shred personal identifying documents. Along with free shredding, Texas EquuSearch was in attendance collecting cash donations. Texas EquuSearch provides search and recovery services for families of missing persons and law enforcement. This event took place at Main Event in Webster, TX.
Continuing to focus on the communities in which it serves, this week also included meals delivered to local chambers of commerce and local credit unions to celebrate our neighbors, and a financial seminar to assist members with how to access and improve their credit score.
The official ICU Day was reserved for a focus on member appreciation. AMOCO hosted an exclusive member-only event at Main Event in Webster, TX. Families were invited to come out and play games, eat good food, and enjoy each other’s company. It was a fun way to show AMOCO’s appreciation for its members and all they do to make the credit union great.
While ICU Day only happens once a year, credit unions like AMOCO work all year round to ensure its members and their communities are supported. Whether it’s offering lower rates, providing personalized member service, or sponsoring local events, credit unions set the stage for what a financial institution should be.
