Alltru Credit Union recognized for accessible financial products

ST. LOUIS, MO (August 14, 2024) |

Alltru Credit Union, a leading Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in the Greater St. Louis area, was recently recognized by the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis Save our Sons and Sisters program for their dedication to providing accessible financial resources for their program participants.

The Employer Recognition Luncheon, held on August 2, recognized employers in the Greater St. Louis area for providing resources and employment opportunities to the Save Our Sons and Sisters program participants. While most honorees were recognized for hiring graduates of the Save Our Sons program, Alltru was recognized for their commitment to ensuring that Save Our Sons’ workforce participants have access to financial capabilities. Tracy Verner, Alltru’s Community Development Manager, accepted the award on behalf of Alltru.

“I’m honored to have received recognition by our friends at Urban League St. Louis,” said Verner, Community Development Manager at Alltru Credit Union. “At Alltru, we strive to provide accessible banking solutions to our members. By partnering with Urban League St. Louis, we empower the Save Our Sons participants with the tools they need to manage their finances wisely.”

As one of only 500 CDFI credit unions in the United States, Alltru’s primary mission is to provide accessible personal banking and lending products to underserved individuals, regardless of their credit histories. By coming alongside the Urban League’s program members, Alltru demonstrates this commitment to their mission and serving the community.

While other financial institutions would deny the applications to basic financial products, Alltru’s range of products and services meet a variety of needs of the Save Our Sons program participants to ensure they have accessible checking accounts and loan products to set them up for financial success.

The Save Our Sons and Sisters program from The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis provides training and opportunities for economically disadvantaged African American men and women in the St. Louis area to find jobs with livable wages. As they complete the Save Our Sons and Sisters programs, Alltru empowers these newly hired people with a strong financial foundation, which enhances the impact of the program and encourages them to stay active in the workforce.

Eligible individuals according to Alltru’s field of membership may contact Alltru or visit a local branch to discuss opening an account to access these products.
