Abound’s Darabos to serve on WKU Advisory Council

RADCLIFF, KY (April 15, 2025) |

Abound Credit Union’s Chief Finance and Administration Officer, Jake Darabos, CPA, will serve on Western Kentucky University’s (WKU’s) Advisory Council. In this new role, he will be working on WKU’s finance curriculum to help ensure that students will be successful in finance-based careers.

“I’m thrilled to serve on WKU’s Advisory Council and help shape curriculum to educate students on different career paths in finance, specifically within the banking industry,” says Darabos. “We want to make sure students are prepared for real world jobs after they graduate and promote financial literacy overall.”

Abound’s partnership with WKU has expanded significantly in recent years. The Credit Union is currently the sponsor of WKU’s Personal Finance Summer Camps through the Center for Financial Success in the Gordon Ford College of Business. The Camp gives area high school students the opportunity to learn about financial literacy through hands-on, engaging activities.

Abound also sponsors WKU’s Celebration of the Arts exhibition, an annual competition which invites South-Central Kentucky artists to have their work shown and judged, providing a vital professional development opportunity as well as community recognition of our region’s artistic talent and diversity.

Abound’s commitment to helping local communities thrive and mission of making more possible by leading financial education throughout Kentucky has led the Credit Union to deepen its partnership with WKU.

In addition to sponsoring the Personal Finance Summer Camps and Celebration for the Arts, Abound supports WKU’s Textbooks for Troops program, which assists eligible veterans, military students and dependents by loaning textbooks for undergraduate and graduate program, and M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan, a WKU tradition since 1993 designed to help first-year students smoothly transition to life as a Hilltopper. The program, held annually the week before fall classes begin, allows students to experience campus living before their first class.

“Abound cares about the financial success of Warren County and is deeply committed to helping the community succeed,” says Darabos. “Working closely with WKU and influencing courses to highlight financial wellness is an important part of that overall commitment.”
