2016 America’s Credit Union Conference to include financial education event for Washington schools

WASHINGTON, DC (April 29, 2016) — Credit Union National Association has announced a collaborative effort with the National Credit Union Foundation, Northwest Credit Union Association and Northwest Credit Union Foundation entitled Give Back to Seattle, a financial education event to be held at America’s Credit Union Conference on June 26, 2016, in Seattle, WA.

During the event, teachers and administrators from school districts across the state of Washington will be presented with information and practical guidance on youth-oriented financial education. In addition to valuable insights, each attendee will leave the event with a Biz Kid$ Starter Kit—including DVDs, training tips and suggested curriculum—that is customized to Washington state financial education standards. Volunteers at the event will have the opportunity to leave a positive impression on our host city by offering the tools and resources to area teachers that they need to help their students succeed financially.

“America’s Credit Union Conference is about planning for the future of the credit union movement; financial education shapes our future by creating more informed, responsible consumers,” said Jim Nussle, President/CEO of CUNA. “We’re extremely grateful for the support of our partners on this event, especially the Northwest Credit Union Foundation and Leagues who have gathered contacts and spearheaded the event planning.”

“This initiative will help Washington area educators instill an understanding of financial literacy and credit union principles in a generation of future members,” Gigi Hyland, Executive Director of National Credit Union Foundation. “Together, we will use the America’s Credit Union Conference platform to make a positive impact on the community.”

With the support of the National Credit Union Foundation, Give Back to Seattle is completely free for educators to attend. Those educators interested in attending can register for the event at acuc.cuna.org/teachers.

America’s Credit Union Conference attendees who would like to volunteer for the event can also register at acuc.cuna.org.
