MLI’s leader of the future: How do you compare?

Yesterday, John Spence kicked off NAFCU’s 2013 Management and Leadership Conference by leading a full-day workshop. Titled “The Leader of Tomorrow,” the workshop forced attendees to wade through a ton of leadership development before doing a leadership self-assessment.
The highlight of the first day was an exercise that forced the entire group to create the perfect leader. Think about it: Imagine you asked 80 credit union managers what they look for in a leader? Wouldn’t you want to know what that looks like? Wonder no more…
- Communication. A great leader would demand robust, open communication that goes both ways.
- Shared vision and purpose. This leader would ensure that everyone within the credit union has a shared vision and purpose.
- Clear expectations and goals. Everyone would have clear expectations about what the credit union was doing, as well as themselves individually.
- Integrity, honesty, authenticity, consistency. The leader would be chock full of all of these qualities.
- Passion. The leader would inspire others
