Credit Union Youth Week: NerdWallet’s Favorite Celebrations

Credit Union Youth Week is April 21st – 27th, 2013. This year, credit unions nationwide are encouraging their youngest members to solve the mystery of saving by becoming a Savings Sleuth. If you’ve been meaning to open a savings account for your kids, there’s no better time to visit a participating credit union. Your kids can participate in fun, detective-themed Youth Week celebrations that might include prize drawings, free piggy bank giveaways, coloring contests, kid-friendly financial literacy games, and more. Sign your child up for the Credit Union National Association’s Savings Challenge, and they could even win $100. Being a big saver has never been more fun.

Credit unions have Youth Week spirit

Every credit union that participates in Youth Week promises a fun time for kids and teens alike, and a chance to win big in the Savings Challenge. However, we recently learned about credit unions that are going above and beyond to celebrate Youth Week with their own unique activities. Whether it’s a bowling party, a “guess the famous mustache” competition, or a musical iTunes gift card giveaway, we applaud these credit unions for embracing the Youth Week spirit and setting a fabulous example for all credit unions nationwide. We hope these awesome events inspire you to check out your neighborhood credit union during Youth Week!

Most Fiscally “Fit”: Pen Air Federal Credit Union (Pensacola, FL)

Pen Air Federal Credit Union encourages their youngest savers to stay “Young & Fit” during credit union youth week. Teens and tweens can stop by later in the evening for Jump into Savings!, an interactive presentation about saving, budgeting and credit union benefits. Pen Air Federal Credit Union has branches in select areas of Alabama and Florida. Membership is open to active or retired military members and their families, but there are many other ways to qualify, too. See their membership page for complete details.
