Credit union champion Sen. Tester backed with website, ads, mailers ahead of election

A staunch credit union supporter since his election in the Senate in 2006, Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., has the full support of America’s Credit Unions, its PAC, and Montana’s Credit Unions.

“Sen. Tester has been a credit union champion throughout his time in the Senate and a crucial partner in pushing back against one-size-fits-all style regulations that put barriers between credit unions and members,” said Trey Hawkins, head of political affairs at America’s Credit Unions. “His door is always open to credit unions in his state, and we look forward to continuing our work with him to address credit union priorities.”

Gerry Singleton, president/CEO of Montana’s Credit Unions, said Tester is “an unwavering ally” of credit unions in Montana and the nearly 467,000 Montanans they serve.

“His steadfast support and proactive efforts in advocating for policies that protect and promote credit unions is instrumental in our ability to serve our members effectively,” he said. “Sen. Tester’s leadership on issues – including the Durbin Amendment, regulatory relief through S. 2155, the SAFE Banking Act, and housing finance reform – exemplifies his dedication to ensuring the financial well-being of Montanans. We are proud to support Sen. Tester and deeply appreciate his commitment to the credit union movement.”
