Hazelmae Overturf started her career in credit unions over eleven years ago serving BECU members in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. In 2009, her dream was to be a part of the training team. After a few years of working numerous roles in the organization, she made this dream come true and now has the privilege of leading Learning and Development at BECU. ...
While her purpose and passion continue to be aligned with learning, it has also expanded into credit union advocacy and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work. In 2019, she earned her CUDE (Credit Union Development Educator) distinction and represented WA state as a 2020 GAC (Government Affairs Conference) Crasher. Most recently, Hazelmae joined the next wave of Filene Research Institute’s i3 program and she is a proud member of the AACUC.
Hazelmae also recently earned her MBA and serves as a Board Member and active volunteer for a Seattle non-profit focused on improving reading skills for elementary schools in the most diverse communities in western Washington. For fun, Hazelmae enjoys escape puzzle rooms, reading, anything Disney, and spoiling her elderly Shih Tzu, Gizmo. She also has recently taking up learning how to make traditional dishes from her Filipinx culture. Lumpia, anyone?
