Brian Schools is the President & CEO of Chartway Federal Credit Union – a $2.5 billion financial institution dedicated to unlocking the potential of individuals and families so they can thrive.
With more than 30 years of leadership experience, Schools works collaboratively with Chartway’s board, leadership, and team to deliver on its people-first and financial soundness responsibilities – with a progressively developing mindset. His humble, team-based approach has led to a vibrant people-first culture driven by team members who love what they do and find purpose in making a meaningful difference. As a result, Chartway has been consistently recognized as a “Top Workplace” and a “Top Credit Union” in the markets it serves.
Prior to serving as Chartway’s President & CEO, Schools held senior leadership roles at Collegiate Funding Services/JP Morgan Chase, Capital One, and Crestar Financial (now SunTrust). Schools currently serves on the Board of Directors for The National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions, currently serving as Treasurer. He’s also a Board of Trustee for Chartway’s We Promise Foundation, which has raised more than $12 million to provide experiences that bring joy, hope, and smiles to children facing medical hardship or illness. He also serves on industry committees for CUNA Mutual Group and Visa, among others – all with the purpose of promoting the credit union spirit.
Schools holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
